Steve
House and Vince Anderson got PIOLET D'OR for the best 2005 climb!
It'a
the great award for their climb on Nanga Parbat Rupal Face (8125
m) in Pakistan - the new route 4100 m length, WI4 M5, 5.9, in alpine
style, 6 days and 2 days decsent via Messner's route.
Vladimir Bogdanov, BASK company: "I met Steve in Salt Lake
City some days ago, where he presented his slide-show - he was sure
in his victory in France. Photo by Giulio Malfery
Last
year Steve was nominated for his speed solo climb on K7 and awarded
by the public attending the ceremony. If serious, I (as well as
Valery Babanov) think that choice is fair. Of cource, I hoped for
Denis Urubko and Serguey Samoilov, because their route was not less
significant than Rupal Face, but Steve had climbed some excellent
routes before, and it played the important role...
Denis Urubko: Finally, Piolet D'Or 2005 was awarded to American climbers. I think a lot of interesting about that. As for me - I wasn't surprised by that decision. And I'm happy that sport is important for me first of all and I'm free in my preferences and future plans...
